Roman Religion

There were household colts know as Dii Familiaris. Within this belief, it is thought every family was assigned a guardian spirit. Thought to be with them for life, the spirits determined gender, helped a person grow, learn, and behave morally with the rest of society. Some families were such strong believers that they had a guardian for different parts of the home. For example, Forculus protected the door, Limentinus the threshold, Cardea the hinges, and Vesta the hearth.
